Web-hosting firm Endurance to hire as many as 300 employees in Burlington
The CEO of web hosting company Endurance International Group (Nasdaq: EIGI) said the company plans to hire as many as 300 employees at its Burlington headquarters over the next three to five years and is considering acquisitions.
Hari Ravichandran, CEO and founder of Endurance, said in an interview that the company was experiencing revenue growth because of the rise in the number of small- and medium-sized business customers. And existing customers are also spending an increasing amount of money on an increasing variety of services that Endurance provides, he said.
Ravichandran said that the company, which currently has 150 employees in Burlington and 2,600 in offices worldwide, will be looking for people to fill between 150 and 300 positions such as product marketing, development, engineering over the next three to five years in its 59,000-square-foot Burlington office.
The company has seen growth for its subscription-based web hosting service. At the end of the company's second quarter that ended June 30, Endurance said it had more than 3.7 million paying subscribers, an increase of 11 percent compared to approximately 3.4 million in the same period a year before. The company said that it generated $152 million in revenue for the quarter, an increase of 19 percent compared to $128.2 million for the same period the year before.

Ravichandran, who launched the company in 1997, also said that the company would consider acquisitions in North American-based web hosting companies or firms that have a focus on helping small businesses grow online. Earlier this year, Endurance completed its $110 million acquisition of Directi, which operates India’s largest web domain registration business. Endurance, which went public last fall, is a competitor with GoDaddy, providing Web hosting, domain services and other cloud services targeted for small and medium-sized businesses. The firm's brands include Bluehost, Domain.com, FatCow, Homestead, HostGator, A Small Orange, iPage and iPower. Shares of Endurance stock are trading in the $16 range, nearly 50 percent above where they were a year ago.
